Thanks to your partnership, we are excited to announce Dreams and Queens Academy will be expanding into Alliance this January! This means more young men and women will get to experience positive role models, real-world experiences and hands-on interactions.
As we expand, we will have more mentors dedicated to investing time, energy and attention in the next generation – making a profound difference in the lives of their mentees. We know this investment in our young men and women will strengthen the community, schools and families in Alliance!
This expansion would not be possible without your support. Thank you for helping us impact the next-generation.
We are excited to have our Queens Academy underway! These amazing young women are being exposed to a variety of creative and professional experiences to enhance, mentor and propel them into adulthood.
Recently, the Queens Academy spent a session with Ms. Bertina King, a police officer from the Akron Police Department, who taught the girls several life lessons including:
- What self defense looks like and who it affects
- Challenges that come with putting oneself in harm’s way
- How to protect themselves by evaluating their friends, choices and avoiding unsafe situations
We hope as these young women are equipped and empowered, those around them will be positively impacted. Thank you for making this meaningful work we’re able to do with our young Queens possible!
Although #GivingTuesday has passed, it’s not too late for you to stand in the gap, by giving a special gift towards our $2,500 goal to provide youth a safe place to be poured into, fed, and have fun!
Through your generosity, these young men and women will have a chance to feel seen, encouraged by attending a special one day workshop where we will have food, fun, and learning – as well as an exciting surprise field trip. Just imagine the smiles on their faces and the memories they will create because of you!
I am excited to report that the Dreams Academy Music and Media Center renovations are moving along nicely. We anticipate our opening date to be in the first quarter of 2023.
This center will provide the entire Akron community with a highly functional space equipped with a full music production studio and podcast stage. Not only will this space be a valuable asset to the youth and adults in our community, but it will provide multiple training opportunities for our youth who are interested in producing.
I truly appreciate your support on this major renovation and look forward to the incredible projects our community will create.
Your generosity empowers our work with young men and women!
Your support today ensures we can build and provide a network of professional African Americans to mentor, teach, and ultimately positively affect our youth by sowing into their adulthood.
Let’s keep developing the young people of tomorrow, together. Thank you!
